Will work for Travel
The year is 2007 and I am a poor college student. However, my new job in the hotel industry had just provided me with access to discounted and sometimes free hotel rooms. The nearest truly big city is Chicago, and it was uncharted territory for me. I loaded up my $500 car that had no business leaving town. As I made my way east, an unexpected blizzard formed along Interstate 80. My desire for inexpensive and haphazard travel had been born.
Fast forward more than a decade later and I still value the low-cost, carefree travel style. It has evolved slightly as I now delight in the planning. Researching lodging, restaurants and attractions is half the fun! My husband, Evan, and I create wish lists and basic itineraries. We have found that being prepared gives us more time to explore and enjoy the sights. That is not to say that we won’t forget the curated food list if we catch a whiff of something delicious from a nearby street vendor or patio.
That first trip to Chicago was just the beginning. We have made travel a priority ever since. I think we make a pretty good team! I bring a love of nature and an appetite for adventure. Evan is good at finding unexpected experiences and also making sure we take time to slow down and relax. Our favorite locations offer opportunities to both explore and unwind.
“Design a life that you are inspired to live”
- Annette White
I love reading travel blogs and looking at photos of destinations from all over the world. Photography is one of my favorite activities. It keeps me busy, it allows me to submerse myself in my surroundings and it provides ongoing inspiration for my work. As a freelance graphic designer, I refer to my images often. The colors and arrangements influence my style and if nothing else, encourage me to work harder so I can travel more!
A blog for creatives and adventurers
I believe that when you surround yourself with the beauty of the world you draw inspiration from real life, and you can create work that is more fulfilling not only for yourself but for your clients as well. With that being said, welcome to Earthtones, a collection of color palettes and design inspirations mixed with destination tips and an adventurous spirit. I hope that you can find a spark of creativity from the colors of our travels!
You can find more about me on my website. If you have other questions or would like to work together, I would love to hear from you!
Cheers!
